…were some other people cooking pizzas with my oven! And guess what…YEAH, i just like it!
The nice thing about building new mobile pizza ovens is that you always can keep your old one. They also fit perfectly when two of my good friends asks me for a pizza party at the same day! Unfortunately i can’t divide myself in two… but luckily i do have friends who looks like me:) Thanks Jeff for managing this unimaginable task and avoiding me sawing myself…and of course thanks Casper and James for being my two great friends:) Next time i will make ONE party for you guys…so we can enjoy it all together!
One of the most painful thing for an architect is watching his construction demolished. We build things for the life time, like cathedrals and bridges! Realizing that your architecture is gone gives you a feeling that actually you are badly stupid builder! One of my first pizza ovens that i have made in Holland is destroyed!
In 2009 i build an oven in Katendrecht, Rotterdam for an project called “De wereldtuin”…The project was just fantastic, taking the children out of the streets and giving them lessons about art/construction/cooking/ecology/etc…They had a wonderful garden where all the kids could exercise their creativity… I was in love with the project, so i decided to build a pizza oven over there! It was an success! It felt like a glove into their activities, and it became an icon for the garden! Last year the municipality decided to stop supporting the project, stopping the activities on the garden and redeveloping the area! In the meanwhile the volunteers were gone, the garden was closed and the vandalism took place. Sometimes things turns out differently then the original plan, but this doesn’t means that the original plan didn’t had any effect… everything has an effect if you believe on it…
…and we believe bricks can bring people together! Even if they are in a different shape then a pizza oven!
One of the most great things about cooking pizzas is that sometimes you get surprised with people taste! Some weeks ago i was cooking for a children birthday party in Den Haag and suddenly came a girl asking me to cook her pizza…i took a look at the combination and i just could not believe it… Salami, cheese and chocolate! Wow!!! I asked her if she got it right, and she answered me : “This is the one, every thing i like on the pizza!” I was surprised and amazed with children imagination… so much freedom of thinking and doing that sometimes i ask myself why i am making things so difficult! Just let it be! Thanks Gert-Jan and Suzzane for the opportunity! I like it very much! Yeah!!!!
Lot’s of people already told me that this pizza adventure has huge commercial potential, and that i should keep the knowledge and expertise for myself…but… i believe that what we are doing is not about construction, or pizzas or even mobility inventions…actually what we are doing is bringing people together by sharing what we like…doesn’t need to be perfect, but it need to be real! We believe that more important then keep it for ourselves is sharing it for ourselves…this make us richer, and by consequence makes everyone around us happier…like Diederik, who gave us the chance of building the most crazy pizza oven at his garden and after a while i give him a complete pizza workshop party where i told him all my secrets about pizza cooking! Thanks Diederik..people like you makes people like me happier!!!!YEAH
